Tentative Agreement Posted

The Tentative Agreement Effective February 14, 2011 has been posted to the documents section of the website.

Please note that this agreement document only outlines the changes to the existing July 1st, 2007 to June 30th 2010 Collective Agreement.

The across-the-board adjustments to the salary scales outlined in the tentative agreement have been applied to the appendix A – Salary Scales OPSEU (page 79) of the Collective Agreement can be found here. This document can also be found in the document section of the website.


Local 596 Have Ratified!!!

The OPSEU Local 596 Bargaining Team, (Michael Culkeen, Louise Lichacz, Kella Loschiavo, Elizabeth Mobeen, Carol Sutherland, Milton Cole, Dave Loney) would like to thank all members for their support and trust.

The team are happy to announce that on Thursday, February 17th, 2011 the members of Local 596 have ratified the agreement with a 91.5% acceptance.

There are copies of the documents available in the Union office (POD247-A), if anyone would like to pick one up. These documents will be posted on the Local’s website www.opseulocal596.org by February 25th, 2011.


Ratification Meeting

February 16, 2011

All members should be aware that the negotiating team has have reached a tentative agreement. The team will be recommending all members to accept the new contract.

The ratification meeting is on Thursday, February 17th, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. in the Churchhill Ballroom at the Delta Chelsea Hotel

Management has received notice from human resources to release members for this meeting.

Copies of the language and all items agreed to will be available at the meeting. There will be a quick presentation and then address any questions. Casting of ballots to accept the new contract will commence at 4:30 pm.

Members will be required to present a identification to vote. Any of the following pieces of identification will be accepted: Ryerson ID, OPSEU member card or drivers license.

Members cannot vote by proxy. Anyone voting must be in attendance at the meeting in order to cast a ballot.
